Our Fabulous Fifth Season

We have planned four exciting concerts for this Anniversary season.

1. Buxtehude, Biber and Beyond
Thrilling chamber music by Germanic composers of the Baroque Era

Program notes

Director and violinist Martin Davids will be joined by David Schrader, harpsichord and Craig Trompeter, viola da gamba, for a performance of thrilling chamber music by Germanic composers of the Baroque Era. Known for their exciting interpretations and compelling playing on period instruments, the Callipygian Players will open their fifth season with beautiful and unique compositions that show the diverse imagination of seventeenth century German composers.

Program notes

Opera star and Cantor Benjamin Warschawski joins us as Ahasueros. Esther will be sung by Tina Beverly. The cast also includes Jeffrey Strauss as Haman, Edward Zelnis as Mordechai, Roger Pines as the Priest, and Israeli soprano Orna Arania as the Israelite woman. A full orchestra of period instruments and a choir of talented singers will support the telling of this story under the baton of Dr. Julia Davids.

Program notes

The Callipygian Players are joined by internationally renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine for some forays into England's most beautiful and exciting music. Purcell and Handel will take their places next to Matteis and Geminiani. The famous battle between violinists Davis Mell and Thomas Baltzar will be renewed, and the beauty of English songs sung by soprano Julia Davids will make this an unforgettable concert.
